Jefferson County, Alabama, Environmental Services – December 2, 2022 – Jefferson County (Birmingham, AL) is hiring Air Pollution Instrumentation Technicians responsible for the operation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of ambient air monitoring equipment for the air pollution monitoring network administered by the Jefferson County Department of Health. The technicians also record, correlate, and prepare air quality data for reporting. Such individuals build and repair air pollution collection stations in various locations through-out Jefferson County. It is their responsibility to troubleshoot equipment that is problematic and maintain inventory of needed parts and equipment to ensure air monitoring operates as intended. Air Pollution Instrumentation Technicians may also maintain records and write various reports. Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD) – September 16, 2022 – The GA EPD's Air Protection Branch, Planning and Support Program, Data and Modeling Unit (DMU) located in Atlanta, GA, is hiring a photochemical modeler. The DMU applies advanced air quality models to simulate the transport and fate of pollutants in the atmosphere to support state air quality rulemaking packages, State Implementation Plan submittals and development of emission control strategies. This position will learn and employ multiple air quality modeling packages. The successful candidate will also have strong verbal and written communication skills. Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD) – September 16, 2022 – The GA EPD's Air Protection Branch, Planning and Support Program, Data and Modeling Unit (DMU) located in Atlanta, GA, is hiring a permit modeler to assist with permit-related dispersion modeling. The DMU performs dispersion modeling to better understand the impacts of facility emissions on ambient air quality. Specifically, the DMU performs quarry modeling, toxic air pollutant modeling, and PSD modeling for issuance of air permits. In addition, DMU perform dispersion modeling for special projects, using a variety of models.The successful candidate will also have strong verbal and written communication skills.
